What are porcelain veneers?

If you ask me what porcelain veneers are - I will answer that they are a small masterpiece of art! These ultra-thin, hand-made, individually matched porcelain flakes can not only restore a smile, but also change life. Thanks to them, we can improve the color, shape and size of the teeth, align them, and change their position. Veneers are the perfect way to transform your smile, increase self-confidence and raise self-esteem, which has a direct impact on success in interpersonal and professional relationships.

Why do patients choose porcelain veneers?

There are a lot of people who think they have bad teeth. They try to hide their smile by covering their teeth. They also often don't smile at all, thus hiding their complexes. Are porcelain veneers permanent?

Yes, porcelain veneers are a permanent option to change and improve your smile. Veneers are designed to serve for many years, therefore making porcelain veneers is an irreversible procedure. If the appropriate rules are followed, we can expect a durability of up to 15 years or even longer. There are documented cases of 30 years of stability of veneers. However, after many years, the gums may gradually lower and the border between the veneer and the tooth tissue may be visualized. That is why prevention is so important. Plaque control and professional tooth cleaning should be performed every six months. This significantly slows down the aging process of the gums and the so-called periodontium and allows you to enjoy a beautiful smile longer.

Do porcelain veneers damage teeth?

No, veneers do not damage teeth. Veneers are used to improve the color, shape, size, alignment and overall appearance of the teeth. They are the only prosthetic restoration that strengthens the tooth's stiffness. In many cases, veneers can be made without any interference with the tooth tissue, the so-called VENEERS WITHOUT PREPARATION (they can be compared to contact lenses). They are used, for example, when we want and can thicken the tooth, close the gaps between the teeth. Otherwise, teeth preparation in the enamel area is required to the thickness of the future veneer, i.e. 0.2-0.4 mm (as a reminder, the average thickness of a human hair is 0.1 mm). Then we can expect the most natural effects.

Do all celebrities have porcelain veneers?

Most famous people, actors, businessmen, sportsmen, politicians, celebrities have veneers. It's amazing how many famous people have them. Think of your five favorite celebrities, and I'm sure at least three of them have veneers. The other two probably had their teeth straightened with braces and professional whitening. However, veneers are the most common aesthetic dental procedure among celebrities.

How much do porcelain veneers cost?

Porcelain veneers can range in price. This may depend on the location, the experience of the dentist, the quality of the materials used and the craftsmanship of the ceramist making the veneers. On average, veneers can cost from PLN 1,500 to PLN 3,000 and more for a tooth / veneer. In my practice, the cost of a veneer is PLN 2,100. Depending on the width of the patient's smile and the given case 6, 8, 10 veneers should be made. So the cost of making 6 veneers is PLN 12,600, 8 veneers - PLN 16,800, 10 veneers - PLN 21,000, etc.

How many veneers should be made and which veneer color should be chosen?

Once you have decided to make porcelain veneers, the next step will be to ask questions that we try to answer together: How many veneers should be made? What color of veneers should be chosen? The answers to both of these questions are related. When deciding how many veneers to make, one of the first things we evaluate is how wide your smile is. Then you need to consider what your dream target tooth color is. How bright or white you want your smile to be? To make it easier, in the METAMORPHOSIS tab, I have included information on how a given color looks in the smiles of individual patients.

When someone smiles broadly, he/she usually shows 8 to 10 upper teeth. In my case, it is even 14! But let's not go to extremes;) If someone shows 10 teeth in a wide smile and wants the teeth to be super white, I would say that this person should make 10 veneers on the upper teeth, and the color should match the freshly whitened lower teeth.

If someone has whitened teeth, and they are in good shape and in good alignment, then we could consider making fewer veneers, eg 2, 4, 6, 8. It all depends on what we starting with and what is our goal.

When deciding on the color, I consider the patient's skin tone, complexion and facial features to determine the best teeth color for him/her. If the patient whitens his teeth and makes several veneers, then the chosen color is matched to the newly whitened teeth after the color stabilization period.

If the patient is not satisfied with the color of the teeth after whitening, or his/her teeth are resistant to the whitening process, then veneers can also be considered on the lower teeth. Then I make 10 veneers on the upper teeth and 10 veneers on the lower teeth. In this case, we are not limited by anything, and the patient can choose any color of teeth that he/she has always dreamed of.

Yes, there are.
